Accessibility modifications
Grab bars, ramps, stairlifts, and bathroom retrofits, designed from the home safety assessment and performed under the Maryland Home Improvement Commission contractor license MHIC #155639. Licensed, insured, and documented for the record.
What This Service Is
When the assessment finds that the home itself is the barrier, the fix is structural: a ramp where steps block the entrance, grab bars where transfers are unsafe, a stairlift where the bedroom is upstairs, a bathroom retrofit where bathing has become dangerous.
Every modification is designed from the assessment, priced clearly, and performed under MHIC #155639. The family receives a documented record of the work, which matters for the care plan, the estate file, and any future sale of the home.
Typical Modifications
Designed from the assessment, built to a licensed standard
Grab bars
Anchored into structure, placed where transfers actually happen: tub, shower, toilet, and bedside.
Ramps
Entrance ramps engineered to grade, width, and surface, so the front door is reachable for a walker or a wheelchair.
Stairlifts
Where the bedroom or bathroom sits upstairs, a stairlift keeps the whole home usable instead of half of it.
Bathroom retrofits
Walk-in showers, transfer benches, raised toilets, and non-slip surfaces that make bathing safe again.
How It Works
From assessment to documented modification
Modifications are never sold on their own. They are designed from the home safety assessment, quoted clearly, scheduled around the family's timeline, and documented when complete.
- 1
Assess
The assessment identifies which structural barriers matter most.
- 2
Design & quote
Each modification is designed, priced, and approved by the family before work begins.
- 3
Build & document
The work is performed under MHIC #155639 and documented for the record.
Why It Matters
A modification is a promise about safety: a grab bar will hold, a ramp will bear the weight, a stairlift will stop and start reliably. That promise is only as good as the license behind it. Under MHIC #155639, the work is performed to a professional standard, insured, and documented, so the family's safety and the estate record are both protected.
For families planning ahead, modifications can also be designed to make the home more marketable later: a well-built ramp or a walk-in shower is an asset, not an eyesore.
